Maria Fratelli: Archives and Communities
24 June ore 11:00 – 11:30 CEST
The opening of the CASVA headquarters in the Milanese neighborhood of QT8 has involved, from the very formulation of the museological project, the awareness that the archive would be an addition, as relevant as it may be, to a knowledge infrastructure whose networks are woven on an urban scale, but above all on a national level and with a strong international vocation. The perception by citizens of the archive as an institution carrying social value cannot be taken for granted, just as the consolidation of this expectation can only result from careful dialogue with the local community’s needs. The multiple operational levels of the Archive must therefore be targeted and promoted based on the awareness that one of its primary reasons is to serve as a safeguard and foundation of community.
